Coffea Espression
The Brief
A new coffee shop was opening on the street where I live and one morning I popped in for a coffee and to say hi. The owners are from Brazil and Colombia, their backgrounds are in science and biology. One project lead them to work on parasites in caffeine... and their new venture idea was sparked! Their coffee shop had only been open a few weeks and had used generic logos from internet services, with no real connection to their roots.
The Solution
First thing I wanted to do was inject some South-American flare into the brand. creating a bespoke logo icon which represents the flower produced by coffee plants but also in the shape of coffee beans. The wordmark itself has a rough feel symbolising the earthy nature of coffee's origins, paired with a more vibrant colour palette.
They already had an illustrator who created beautiful illustrations for the different varieties of coffee on offer, so I used those to create new coffee bags to better reflect the branding with the use of some additional illustrations.
The take away bags they were using were standard recyclable paper bags with no branding on. This was a great opportunity to create a custom design for them to really publicise the brand, along with custom coffee cups.
